1 Peter 4:10- "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace".

Why Should I Serve?

There is a common misconception that the existence of youth sports is a good thing, and that those who play sports will have benefited because of it. This is only the case if individuals invest their time and effort in local programs with the intent of prioritizing each child's needs. With proper training, accountability, and evaluation, we believe that anyone with the heart to serve youth can contribute to the success of Above the Rim. Our staff, players, and families, are relying on you!

How Can I Serve?

Coach

Our coaches teach the fundamentals of basketball in an organized team environment that is both challenging and rewarding for players.

Referee

Our referees are both facilitators and teachers of the game who help promote a fair competitive environment throughout league play.

Scorekeeper

Our scorekeepers work closely with referees to help keep each game organized, which makes them a vital piece of our game day operations.

"ATR takes a holistic approach to player development that prioritizes basketball skill improvement and character growth. The positive outcome is reflected by seeing many of the same families each year. Serving has given me the opportunity to create rewarding relationships with players, parents, and other coaches, and I love seeing individuals and teams improve throughout the season. I have found everyone associated with ATR to be friendly and supportive, and the positive vibe surrounding the entire program makes serving very enjoyable and desirable".

- Gary Collins, 5th and 6th Grade Boys Coach Since 2017

Throughout my 20+ years serving in Lawndale Baptist's basketball programs, my involvement has been nothing but positive, and I hope the same goes for the young men and women which I officiated. Personally, it was a lot of fun dealing with the various age groups, and I would strongly recommend that more adults get involved. It gives you a whole new perspective on the game of basketball. I would do it all over again if I had the opportunity.
